Default Oil Light

I am having a light come on whenever I start my car that says "oil change." It goes off after a minute of driving. Also, I just had my oil changed during the month of December. Is this any cause for concern? Should I get it changed again?

you need to reset the indicator. i think if you turn the key forward just before it cranks up and hold in the trip odometer "push stick" it will flash then go away.

I think you can turn the key to the on position and depress the accelerator pedal to the floor 3 times and this will reset the counter as well without you having to reset your trip odometer

mine just came on too....I don't have the original manual, so I did not know how to turn it off. I'll try both of these.

Yep, it's the GM oil life system. Personally I just reset it when it illuminates and change mine based on mileage. According to my manual it can come on anywhere from 3-10K depending on your driving habits.

Just reset mine today, turn the key to acc and hold the trip odo reset button for 15 secs, the oil change light will go off.

Yeah, you should do it at every oil change, a lot of people don't trust it though; I just reset mine when it comes on and keep track of changes myself.

Both methods to rest the oil light work. You can turn the key on but not start the car, and push the gas pedal down 3 times. You can also hold down the trip reset button for about 10-15 seconds, doesn't matter if the car is running or just turned to acc or on. It's just a timer based on the number of engine start cycles recorded by the computer and doesn't mean you need to change the oil.
