Default Hatch Not Releasing with Motor Running

I just got the car and like the title says my hatch won't release if the motor is running using the release button in the car. Is it on every Trans Am or is there something wrong with my car? I don't have a user manual. Also I usually have to press the release button in my car go back lift the hatch a little then go back to the car and press the button and the go back and the hatch will open. Also is there a special key for the hatch and things like the T-Tops... I just have the one for the ignition and the key less entry remote. Should I have a different one? I haven't tired this key in the hatch yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
AR

the hatch release button on my t/a wont work when the motor's running. i got a 6spd; i know it doesnt work if i have the motor running, but maybe the emergency brake has to be up. try putting it in park if you got an auto.

but i have no clue on what your talking about saying that you need to lift the hatch and what not. try piggy backing the spring with another one; just look it up on the forum search

Thanks I'll look up that piggy back thing. I think the spring is going out and I just need to give it a little help by lifting it up a little.

And I believe the M6's have to have the parking brake on for the button to work.

You can view/download a manual at http://shbox.com/pdf/manuals.html

The t-top, door and hatch have a separate key and are all the same cut. Dealer should be able to make you one from the VIN.

If the engines running and its an M6, opening your door will allow the hatch to be popped.
