Default oil leak rear main seal ?

ok I have a oil leak I thought may be the crank sensor but I pulled the starter today and it is not coming from the sensor. I thought that it might be the rear main but I have read that it would be coming out the hole in the bottum of the bell house but its not it is running down the sides more on the passenger side about 10 times as muchas the drivers side and collecting by the hole where the bell housing meets the engine. ANY help or idea of what it could be would be great.

I have been chasing an oil leak myself. Its come down to crank sensor or not enough RTV with the new oil pan gasket. Its doing the same things as you are describing. So far ive replaced the rear main seal, rear cover gasket, valley cover gasket, timing cover gasket and the oil pan gasket. Very frustrating indeed......

I cleaned the whole under side of the car got it all off it looked like a new car for about 2 hours until I drove it then it was covered in oil. someone told me that there pcv system was to blame because the did something to it all I have done though is change pcv valve so i am putting the stock one back in tonight. As weird as that sounds if it stops leaking oil I will be happy even though I will never know where it was coming from. have you done anything to the pcv system.

if the crank case is not venting that
will cause oil to seep through gaskets.

I changed the pcv valve to the updated version for the oil consumption issue but that didnt affect anything.

Did you check for the Famous intake manifold leak? By what your saying thats what it sounds like it is, i have those exact symptoms just not as bad and im just to lazy to fix it. After your car has been running wait for it to cool and feel around the back of the intake for any slime or wetness. if its wet then the manifold is your problem

ok not sure if these two problem are related but now the car was low on coolant, i just noticed DaveH71 post what is the intake manifold leak? since it was low on coolant could it be a head gasket also the oil looks fine went i pull the dipstick out so no coolant int the oil.

Oil leaks can be tough to find. If you can't see exactly where it starts meaning if your valve covers are not leaking what is the next highest thing on the motor that is. Honestly get a can of brake kleen and clean it off thoroughly. Put some dye in the oil and drive it. then you need to put it up and use the light. I work at a shop so I don't know where to by the light to shine which illuminates the dye but that is a proven method. Pressure test your cooling system before jumping to any conclusions you may not have added any coolant for awhile.

I put a 160 stat in my car less than six months ago and i flushed and filled it then and check it for the next month to make sure it was ok and now all of a sudden the car started to get hot so I checked it and it was low. the intake is coming off this next weekend and going to look for it then Im going to clean it real good first. Is it possible for the intake to be causing the oil leak if it is not sealing some where?

I dont think the intake will cause that much oil to rundown. Like I said earlier, my valley cover was leaking really bad cuz it was dripping on both sides of the motor. Now its only on the passenger side. Ill hopefully get my car from the shop this week and can continue hunting down my leak. Once you take the intake off you can get a better look of things.

I THINK i FIXED it there was very large crack in the pvc hose that connects to the passenger side valve cover so I replaced it, we will see that happen over the next few days. After all I have replaced trying to stop the oil leak it was a hose that discount gave me for FREE !!
