Default new starter

Anyone with experience with replacing the starter on a 2001 TA? Just paid a total of $517+ for towing and starter replacement. Parts total for starter at $375??? Is this normal?

I just got my starter replaced by GM, and they billed the insurance 499.66. And u know how that goes, they bill the most possible. So, that sounds about right in the ball park.

In another area I am hearing a new starter goes for $150-$175. Why the high price tag of $375 for the starter ALONE?

Anyone else with experience or thoughts? Just seemed a little bit steep for me.

not sure what a new starter goes for (125-150?) but its two bolts and a couple wires. flat rate for that should be .75 to 1.25 hours.

Sounds like BS, a starter goes for $140 from O'Reilly. There is no way it could take more than an hour for a professional mechanic to replace one. I can do mine in 1/2 hour.

gm starter is around 250 or so list. Oreilly is cheaper but they also include tennis shoes with every purchase. They are cheaper and have a lifetime warranty for a reason.
