Default using coke on a seized engine?

Anyone ever hear of this trick?

I heard before that a seized engine can be unseized. Basically I heard, take out the spark plugs, put some coke in the cylinders, let it sit, put the plugs back in, and it should turn over.... any thoughts?

Seized, as in by water? Cuz then you just pull the plugs and turn it over a few times to force it out.. assuming you shut the car off in time to save it from damage you can then replace the plugs and run it..
I have never heard of anything involving coke though.. maybe some one else can help ya out a little more

would that create a situation similar to hydro locked? I see the theory but I dont think it would actually work, youd have to drain it out before.

Theoretically it could work because the acid in the Coke would loosen up whatever was seizing the engine but I think this is more for an old engine that has been sitting and is seized from rust. Not from lack of oil or heat. I haven't tried it but for a old engine with rust it could work.

it would work if the engine is seized from sitting too long and the bores were rusty..........eventually

coke is acidic but not acidic enough to really make a huge difference. You could probably see the same results if not better results from spraying some wd40 in there and letting it sit it would loosen the rust and penetrate and be a lubricant for the cylinders that are obviously pretty dry

Ouch. Even if you get it un-siezed, the damage is done. You would be on limited time......

Also, it's not just your rings that sieze, your bearings would suffer as well.

I've heard of using coke and baking soda on a battery to keep it from corroding, but never coke in an engine. 3 in 1 oil works really well also, but if it's seized by lack of oil, I wouldn't waist the time to try and free it up other than tearing it down. The whole bottom end has suffered. There's also a good chance it won't turnover if you put oil in the cylinder's. Depending on how hot it got the bearings could've locked up, piston's warped etc etc. preventing it from even moving.

Maybe dump some sand in your engine to port & polish the heads too?
Or perhaps try a little sugar in your gas tank?

LOL @ unit. Yeah, a water & sugar mixture, not real good for metal and combustion.

I'd use WD40 or 3-in-1 oil. WD40 will work.

why the hell would u put something like that in your engine?

I would use as mentioned WD40, Carb Cleaner, and a couple dabs of oil and then hand crank the engine with the crank pulley's bolt.

Dont ever put anything thats not petroleum based in a engine, especially if you have or plan on putting some big bucks in it.

If you guys watch Myth Busters they used coke to get the rust of a bumper one time and they did say it kinda worked.
I've put coke on batterys that had corrosion on them and it dosent realy work waset of coke if you like to drink coke.
And I have herd if you put a penny in a coke can and let it sit over night that the penny will be bright and shinny in the morning.
But to put it in your engine block, you would have to have some serious drain bamage from the other coke you were using to think that would work haha.

You could try a good penetrating oil like WD-40, but I think you are going to need to rebuild at least rings and bearings if you want to go very far. You are going to do more damage if you don't just stop and tear down.

Pouring Coke in only works for birth control, or maybe that's Mountain Dew?

If your engine is seized due to lack of oil, forget it. The problem is seized bearings on the crank and everywhere else in the engine. The pistons aren't seized in the cylinders and putting Coke in them will ruin them as well because of the sugar in the Coke. Like Shiner said, "don't ever put anything that's not petroleum based in an engine".
