Default Mobil 1 vs. Mobil 1 Extended Performance

Im going to be doing an oil change on my dads Corvette and my WS6 today. But i bought regular Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic, instead of the 5w-30 extended performance that i have in my car right now. How big of a difference is there between the two? Just wondering because I have two 1 quart bottles in the garage, and i don't know whether its safe to mix the regular synthetic and the extended performance. I don't mean mix as pour them in the same bottle, but if i see my oil a bit low just throw in some of the extended performance. I just want to make sure that mixing both of them isn't going to harm either car. They are both Mobil 1 brand and 5w-30, only difference again is that one is regualr full synthetic and the other is the extended performance.

As long as they are both synthetic and the same weight like you said, there is no problem in mixing them

Thanks for the quick answer. Either way we are going to have to wait a couple days to change the oil on my dads car. We bought rhino ramps and even with some wood in front of them the air dam is bending. Going up is no problem, but coming off the ramps i feel like they are going to get ripped off. So my dad doesn't trust the dealer so he asked me to order him some race ramps (yes the $200 ones). He said he'd rather pay $200 for the ramps than trust the dealer with the oil change.

What is the difference between Mobil 1® Extended Performance and Mobil 1?
Mobil 1 Extended Performance formulas are designed specifically for today's longer service intervals and are guaranteed to protect for up to 15,000 miles or one year.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance has a unique formulation with a boosted level of protection and performance. Mobil 1 Extended Performance, with the Advanced SuperSyn System, contains 50 percent more SuperSyn than Mobil 1

Ok then so does that 50% more SuperSyn matter if its mixed with the same weight?

Nope it doesnt matter. Supersyn is just mobil1's name for there special blend of additives they put in there synthetic oils. Mobil1 synthetic and Mobil1 Synthetic extended performance both have the supersyn additives theres just more of them in the extended performance Mobil1 so it can protect longer and not have to be changed as often. If you mix them it wont do anything but protect your engine a little longer.

ok i dont get it, i saw nothing better about pennzoil compared to mobil 1. If your going to switch oil for something better anyway why would you switch to a company that uses a lower grade stock then mobil 1 and isnt a true synthetic. Why wouldnt you switch to amsoil or redline which is a true synthetic and is the best you will ever buy?

Both are good oils but since they are so close, PP is cheaper and does the
same job, YMMV.

German Castrol Syn may be the best period, but not carried in Wallyworlds and I hate autozone So PP works best for me....

the castrol syntecs bottles all look almost the same. the only way to tell the german made stuff apart from the US made, is usually where the bottles says "0w30" is highlighted in red (like this pic below)

and the most important thing to look for!!!!!

on the back of the bottle, it should say "made in germany"
