Default Firebird Hatch Weather Strip

Here are some pics of the glass weatherstrip, not the big hatch weatherstrip. I can slide most of it back on, only for it to just slide right back off. Is this normal and I can get away with using some weather strip bonding agent or does it just need to be replaced?

Thanks

Mine is doing the exact same thing for a few years. I would replace mine if I knew where to buy it since the rubber is starting to break apart.

that is not really a weather strip for say. it is just a molding. It doesn't seal anything.

I bought my car NEW and the entire part that runs across over the hatch was left off the car entirely. I never noticed it missing til I noticed it on another car.

I think it must seal something though. If I take my car through a car wash, water will seep in through the lower passenger side of the hatch glass. At least that is what it seems.

Its the weather stripping UNDER the glass that creates the seal. The molding is cosmetic. I was hoping someone would know where to get it...

Bump...is this part still impossible to order replacements? Can only find the lower piece online to order...My car is missing the upper piece as well as the two elbow pieces that connect the lower lace to the upper.

I imagine you could get it to stay by using like the 3m window weld urethane that is used to"glue" windshields into cars.

it is purely decorative tho, the T/A hatch I got off a 93 only had the lower section (where it meets the painted hatch outer shell) on it and comparing it to the firebird hatch I removed the lower section of molding is different between the hatches, the 93 hatch molding doesn't look like it was EVER meant to have a piece that goes up around the sides and top of the glass where the 99 hatch definitely does have it. I'm guessing it was one of those "finish details" that was added down the road.

A glass shop in Ft. Lauderdale replaces that molding around the entire glaas for $80.00 with a brand new one. I'm getting mine done in November when I get back to the states.....
