Default Fans won't turn on..........help

I noticed that my fans won't turn on according to my fan settings. I have looked at it with my scan tool and when the car reaches the temp for the fans to come on, they don't. I have a slp manual fan switch and when I turn that switch on the car cools back down to normal.

What should i check to resolve this?

Thanks

How would you go about checking a relay? I tried to put a fan switch on my buddies 95 firebird but he didnt have the c100 connector? There was just one over there and it wasnt the right one. Also he only has 1 fan not 2? Anyone know what I can do.

I figured it wouldn't be a relay since I can turn them on manually. I will check the fuses out, but how do you check a relay?

Something else to try is disconnecting the switch and plug the stock connectors back together since it's plug and play to eliminate the SLP switch/harness. Are you getting both high and low speeds?

I tried unplugging the slp switch and that didn't help. I am getting both low and high speeds. All the fuses looked good, but I havn't checked the relays.

You can't see if a relay is bad, just swap it out with another....

If your scan tool can command the fans on you can use this troubleshooting guide: www.gearchatter.com/viewtopic8947.php Have a buddy using the same relays that would let you swap them with theirs one by one?

Thanks for posting that link. I will swap the relays from my friend's car and see if that changes anything.

Thanks

Just replaced the relays and that didn't help. With the car sitting at idle the fans are blowing, but when I am riding around and the temp gets up I can turn the fans on high manually and it will cool down, but the computer will not turn the fans on high.

One question..............with a 180 tstat, hot warm will your car run? Mine is getting up around 210-215. That seems a little high to be driving around on a cool night.

Don't go by the gauge, it sucks.

Just because you have a 180 stat doesn't mean it won't ever go above 180....
