Default Fuel Pump?

what are signs or conditions of a fuel pump going bad? im trying to fix my car sputtering problem but dont know what to do I changed my plugs my wires my optispark and changed maf sensor but the car still has the same sputtering problem it idles normal but when i give it gas in nuetral it barely wants to rev and if i put in drive it will barely move sometimes cut off, die out especially when i give gas it would want lose power and die even faster. I checked fuel pressure it was at normal 42 psi and when i revved it it droppes to 36 psi like the haynes manual said so could the fuel pump still be bad? And its had a history of over heating but thats another story for another thread

Default

I would throw a fuel filter in it before I spent any more money. It's cheap, and will narrow it down to the pump. How fast does the pump recover after dropping to 36?
