Question Squeak/thump from rear end

I've noticed lately that, especially when the car is cold, I hear a squeaking noise with a slight thump from the rear end at low speed. The noise speeds up and slows down with vehicle speed. At speeds over about 10-15mph, I don't hear it, but it might just be that the exhaust noise is hiding it. I have 49,000 miles on the stock rear end.

Any ideas? I know I'm due for a rear dif service.

Bump. Anybody? I'd really like to have some idea of what I'm working with before I head to the stealership (they have to do my service, I have a warranty).
