Default Power steering Reservoir

I found a while ago that it is leaking from somewhere so i cleaned it real good. Now i have found that it is leaking from the actual power steering reservoir cap. Is this a common problem? or should i get a new cap?

I've noticed the same thing. The top of the reservoir/around the cap always looks wet. Always thought thats just how it is, but maybe not. Would like to know if I need a new cap also.

Maybe some sort of O-ring in the cap or some type of sealant. I dont know but id like to fix it.

I did a quick search and it seems to be pretty common.

Happens to mine also, first time i noticed i thought the Power Steering was taking a sh*t. When i took off the cap the entire bottom area thats covered by the cap had fluid sitting on it. Im not sure if the seal in the cap gets worn out or what, but it seems to happen to alot of them.

Default ps leak

my 99 z28 was leaking out the top too. turns out that someone filled it to the top and i guess the pressure was probably forcing it out? i took some of it out with a straw and sure enough.. no more leaks.. now its jus leaking from the rack and pinion boot which i heard isn't supposed to have power steering fluid..

If your pump is whining then you're going to need a new one. If it's just leaking from the cap just replace the o-ring/seal on the cap and see what happens.
