Default Does someone here have access to TSBs?

I was browsing them yesterday and found one of interest, it is regarding the annoying squeal that the front brakes make when applied lightly to moderately. I know I've heard some people complain about a brake squealing that they can't seem to get rid of and my brakes are doing the same. Maybe this TSB has the info why and how to fix it. Is anyone able to look this up?

TSB #990523006

If no one can, then I may cough up the $30 to see what it is, depending on whether this brake squeal stop stuff I got at the store works or not (need a new socket first, I broke my cheapo socket trying to get the caliper off )

Brakes (Front) - Squeal at Light/Moderate Brake Apply

File In Section: 05 - Brakes

Bulletin No.: 99-05-23-006

Date: December, 1999

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Front Brake Squeal At Light/Moderate Brake Apply (Install New Front Disc Brake Pads)

Models:
1998-2000 Chevrolet Camaro
1998-2000 Pontiac Firebird Built prior to VIN Breakpoint Y2102472

Condition

Some customers may comment about a squealing type noise that is coming from the front brakes during a light to moderate brake apply.

Cause

The squealing noise may be the result of a SLIP/STICK condition between the front brake pads and rotors that could cause a high frequency vibration.

Correction

On vehicles built prior to the VIN breakpoint indicated, this condition can be minimized by replacing the existing front brake pads with new pads, P/N 18026298, that have a new lining material. Refer to the Disc Brakes sub-section in the appropriate Service Manual.

Important: Guidelines provided in Corporate Bulletin Number 23-50-05B must be followed to insure proper cleaning, lubricating and assembling of brake and related components.

Thanks appreciate it!

Guess that isn't exactly my problem since I have new non-OEM pads and rotors all around. Thanks for looking it up!

Do you have semi-metalic brake pads? I have the Hawk HPS pads and the brembo blank rotors and i get a lot of squeal in the light to moderate pressure range. Once i heat up the brakes though it goes away. A little noise may be annoying, but it isn't affecting the brakig power unless your pads are metal to metal.

They are ceramics. They weren't near this noisy when I first got them but recently they have been driving me nuts.

I have some brake quiet stuff, once I get a new, real socket set (broke my piece of crap made in china socket ) I'll pull the calipers, clean stuff up, and apply that.
