Default Coolant Flush question?

This will be my first time flushing the coolant system on the Trans Am. Just wanted to make sure i have all the steps correct. I tried to find a writeup but couldn't. What all do I need to do. My main question is do I drain the radiator, then fill with water, wait for the t-stat to open, then drain, and repeat or is there just a way to leave the car running with a hose in it and just leave the radiator plug open? Do i need to remove the block drain plugs? Do I need to open the purge valves? My other MAIN question, is how much actual coolant do I put back in when I'm done (1 jug, 6 quarts, etc)? Thanks for your help.
