bad exhaust leak

Default bad exhaust leak

i have a exhaust leak where the exhaust manifold meats the catylic converter is there a gasket in there or does the flange just need tightened its driving me crazy sounds terrible but its in a tight space to work on, thanks in advance

its just a flange from what i can remember.

k i guess ill just try tightening it, if that dont work im getting headers im tired of fixing leaks in these manifolds i swear there cursed

how much louder do longtubes make the magnaflow cuz right now its entirely to quiet

There is a gasket, I just bought the drivers side today. Just under $5

Yes.
I had the car apart before and had anti seize on the manifold studs so it all came right apart. I just took the cat out and wire wheeled the gasket area clean. Left the manifold in place so it was a pain to get the old gasket off, but it has to come clean for it to seal.

A lot of times the studs break if you've never had them off, so try soaking them with your favorite penetrating oil first.

That gasket in the pic is for the drivers side '98-'02 LS1 F-Body. Had to order it from advance auto. They keep the passenger side in stock, I guess that one fits other applications.

EDIT, they call it the exhaust flange gasket. I went to Napa first and they said it was a dealer only item. Guess they were wrong. Advance had it to me next morning. It cost $3.54

well it wakes it up a little, but it still wasnt loud enough for me..so i slapped a cutout in there, and now its very loud
