Car runs rough when raining.
I had a question about my SS. When it rains I have noticed my car runs really rough. At idle its feels like someone is just rocking my car side to side, it never dies and my throttle response is fine. I get out of the rain or it stops and my car goes back to normal. Is this a known issue with these cars or is something else maybe going on? I'm running stock headers as well.

I would say, this has always done this to me for as long as I can tell and I've had the car for 2 years. My car is pretty much stock except for a lid,k&n filter, and have accordion style connection to the tb. I do know sometimes my SES light kicks on when this happens but goes away after it stops raining sometimes.

be careful if you have an air induction box you could be suckin up water. same thing would happen to me when it was raining and it would always correct it self though....exept for one time in which it blew a rod all the way through the block. i replaced it with a new ls1 and someone totaled it a week after it was installed while the car was parked

Your O2 sensors may be getting wet/leaking and messing with them. Make sure your coil pack connector harness is firmly inserted into it's socket. Also check out your wires and make sure they look decent and not touching anything other then the spark plug. I'd try to get the code off of the PCM and it'll help you pin point it for you. Might be able to replicate it with a spray bottle. I doubt water is getting all the way up your airdam, past your airfilter and past the TB connector, if it is that is an impressive air intake.

i believe the codes were p0174 and 171, bank 2 & 1 being lean. Replaced a pcv hose that had a hole in it, clean maf, and my water pump went out after that the code has not come back. Have not checked them after it rains and it comes on.

For the 1/2 horsepower you might pick up using a K&N filter, you are letting more crap go into your engine, they are not worth it. Just get a paper A/C Delco filter, your engine will have much better protection and you will never feel any performance difference and your ET at a track will be identical.

Your codes point to o2 sensor issues, I think. Maybe its the sensors or maybe you need to check to make sure the wires are in good shape under there. It makes sense that if they are frayed, when rain hits them you will have problems.

These are the old codes, I have changed all 4 since then and the 171 went away but the 174 did not, but that went away after I changed the pcv valve that had a hole in it.

Just to let you know that if you did the O2 wire yourself and they are not sealed, it will cause that. Mine did that a long time ago until I got O2 extensions and connected it the right way.
