It is not true. It is against Federal law to tamper/remove/relocate any original emissions equipment on your car. The only exception would be where the manufacturer can prove it is not needed to pass emission standards for that year, like disabling the A.I.R. system on the 94-96 b/d body LT1's (although you still cannot remove the equipment). Doesn't matter if it is from 2008 or 1968. A lot of places won't test older cars, but it is still illegal to tamper with the emissions.

muffler shops around here will chop you **** off for $15 but youve gotta take you cat with ya..
