Default How do you pass inspection?

I have 5% tint, no front license plate, open ORY with no cats and my service light is on probably because of the o2's.

How does everyone pass inspection. Mine is coming up in February and I want to get prepared.

Thanks everyone.

a good tune can pass the sniffer . maybe an extra muffler welded in to reduce the rasp .

You dont need an inspection son... you need a sticker!
That was actually said to one of my roomates in college while attempting to get his 1992 Explorer inspected while visiting a buddy out in the western part of VA, Deals Gap to be exact. Ill never forget it... it was fn hillarious.

weld some catalytic converter heatshields over where they should be...put your front plate on (if state requires) and open your windows (if state doesnt allow tint) and go get your rear O2s tuned out...you dont need them anyway, and they wont do the sniffer on our car they plug into your ALDL for emissions.

i live in jersey and I have LTs, ORY, cutout, 15% tint, no front plate....and im not sure how im going to pass inspection but i dont go until july next year.

Its called fix it.

1) Take Tints OFF.

2) Put Lic plate ON.

3) Put Catted Y ON, then take it OFF.

4) Check codes, Clear, and get some drive cycles on the car.

5) Like in most automotive manuals "To reinstall, reverse the steps"

My inspection is coming up. I'm definitely going to get it inspected before i do my H/C swap.

I don't know if I'll pass with the car cammin', although I don't live in an emissions county.

Sometimes I'm glad I'm where I am, we only require an inspection to title/tag the car for the first time after you purchase it. After that you can turn the tags in (to save fees while the car is down) and modify the SHYT out of it, and get tags again (as long as the car didn't change owners, the inspection is valid for infinity) ... the only issue is, if you're a OBD-I car, you have to pass the sniffer test for emissions every 2 years. If you're a OBD-II car, it's only a plug in test and, even if you're spitting out gas out the exhaust and everyone's eyes are watering at the emissions station, if you have no codes, you're good to go! ... wait, hope no trigger happy lawmakers look at this post ... being MD, they'll make another law just for fun!

PS: ofcourse there's ways of getting around everything ... lol

just buy a sticker. somebody usually knows someone who makes them. it'll cost some money but usually worth it rather than having the headache of trying to get it to pass. NJ is one of the worst states to try to get through emissions. it doesn't matter if you roll the windows down they will roll them up a little to check for tint. standard procedure.

In Illinois, what they do for the inspection is pressure check your gas cap and check your prom for codes. Assuming the gas tank is not leaking, a tune will be able to eliminate the codes that pretain to !AIR, !EGR, and !Cats. As long as the guy at the test center doesn't decide to look under your car to see if you have cats or not, which at their pay they usually won't do, the prom check will come up clean and on your marry way you'll go.

for the tints try rolling your windows down and taking the fuse out so they won't go back up. if the inspector knows what he's doing he'll try to fail you because you need functioning windows for hand signals, but you can always argue they're stuck down so you can still use hand signals. worked for a kid in NJ.

if that fails just glue a really big picture of your interior on the outside of the window so it looks like you can see through

Get it scanned to figure out what the problem actually is.
If its the o2's, replace them with a functinal set.
