Please ignore the part about the gauges because I got that figured out, it was just a fuse. I need help with my taillights! I'm so tired of getting pulled over for the brake lights! Help me out please. Anyway here is what the car is doing. I just ordered 3 brake light sockets from Autozone and I'm hoping it fixes my problems. Which 3 do you think I should replace? Lastly all of the sockets in the rear are the same right? Well except for the one that takes the small bulb of course. And don't they all take the same bulb?

your sure its the sockets and not the bulbs themselves? There are 2 filiments in the bulbs, high (braking) and low (running). It just looks like your bulbs have taken a crap. They are super easy to get to... try moving the bulbs around (or better yet get some new ones) and see if its the bulb and not the sockets or wiring.

Of course if moving the bulbs/ getting new ones doesnt fix it, id say it would have to be wiring.

No offense intended, but are they the right ones? What's the part number of the ones you used? Did you use the same ones on the left and right? Did you try swapping the left and right bulbs to see if the problem follows? Neither side looks quite correct with the right side looking like its operating opposite of what it should. Inspect the wiring. I think something other than sockets could be the issue.

How did the sockets look? Have you tried swapping the bulbs around to see if anything changes?

The sockets were a little rusted but I cleaned them up with sandpaper real quick. As for the bulbs no I haven't swapped them around because they were all bought brand new just on Sunday.

Really weird. Reminds me of my friend's really old malibu except worse. His was a ground problem because the socket actually rusted internally so the ground was shot.

any rust or corrosion on a harness or connector is a clear indication that it needs to be replaced. start with replacing the sockets......ill see if i can dig up some wiring diagrams for you.

So are all the sockets the same in the rear and take the same bulbs? Which 3 do you think I should go for, all on the passenger side or the 2 inners there and the middle one on the driver side?

I ask because I have no idea which bulbs are supposed to light up during signals, brakes, etc.

Ok I went to pick up the sockets I ordered and the idiots ordered some pigtails that I didn't need. Surprise surprise. Anyway I did my own research and looked online, which of these sockets do I need and how many of each?

I know nothing on this, but I have some similar issues and someone suggested it could be a ground issue.
