Default Loud jerk when put into drive.

Ok ive always taken good care of my car, but this whole when i go into drive it makes a huge thunk sound i guess you could say. It's not a knock. My tranny is fine, and shifts fine...so i know it isnt that. Also when im driving sometimes i feel a rattle where my feet are when driving. Anyone have an idea or do i just smoke alot lol. Let me know thanks.

maybe you have a lot of slack in your u joints and you need some new ones. so when you put it in drive the driveshaft turns and then stops abruptly causing the clunk. so i would just take it to a shop and get it on a lift and have them check that and the trans mount just in case. but when you say you feel a rattle where your feet are, that might be a bent driveshaft. i could feel a rotational vibration through the pedals at about 90mph and it ended up being a bent driveshaft. so check the u joints, trans mount, and then the driveshaft. you can have a shop balance the driveshaft for like $50. keep us updated man.

well took it to my local transmission shop, 2 different ones and they both said nothing is wrong with u joints, drive shaft, rear end, or tranny mounts. The car only does it when its cold, but after it's warm then it shifts into drive fine. This has got me pulling out my hair allready!!!

I get this sometimes too, it seems like slack in the U-joint. Does anyone know how you would check it for play, or how much is too much?
