i have a 2000 ponitac t/a and when you close the headlights it makes a very bad grinding noise for about 4-5 seconds, also when you lock and unlock the car they flip up real quick and shut and also make the same grinding noise, does anybody have any idea to what it might be? and any help would be very appreciated, thanks

replace the gear in the motor or get new motors... The plastic gears probably have a bunch of missing teeth.

Dunno if the LS setup is the same as the LT setup, but my LT1 did the same grinding noise when I first bought the car. So I did the 180* trick and got another 2 yrs out of it before it finally gave out.

(180* trick)= Pull actuator arm off motor, turn motor shaft 180*, place actuator arm back on (basically you're turning the gear inside the motor to a good spot).

To find which one is grinding, turn on lights, pop hood, disconnect one headlight motor, turn off lights, if it still grinds its the one still plugged in.
