Default Need Help guys...

Car was in for warranty work to have the cats replaced. Picked it up from the dealership and you can't engage the clutch without something repeatedly slamming into the frame under the car. Dealership tells me it's an exhaust hanger that mounts on the transmission brace wore out and washed their hands of me. Any ideas? I assume I am not the first to have thier cats replaced... what do I need to look for? It feels like it's hitting directly under my feet.

I also can't get the exhaust hanger and the dealership has been 'great' in not helping me out.

Thanks in advance!

If it wasn't doing it before they replaced the cats I'd call the GM 1-800 no service number and see what they say. Been a while, but don't remember an exhaust hanger that mounts on the transmission brace? Tranny mount maybe?

Thanks... I just jumped through more hoops today (issue still unresolved) apparently the exhaust bracket is different due to the cats being redisigned?

Stealerships are crap - I am to the point that even if the work is free, I am not taking my car in.

Try to get the dealer *** masters to fix it, they are the ones who caused it.

Good luck!

Dealing with GM themselves now... wondering if I am the only one who has had this issue while replacing the cats. Lot of leg work on my end but maybe it will help the next guy who gets his fixed.

The underside of the f-body does not leave a whole lot of room for error when dealing with exhaust stuff. When they took it apart and put it back together, they obviously half-assed it. You just need to be firm with them. It did not make the noise when you came in, so they need to make it right!!

So far I've had no luck... I told them the same exact thing but they are clinging to the fact that this exhaust bracket is REQUIRED to make everything ok again.
