Default Failed Emissions

ok so i failed my emissions cuz the computer read that BANKS 1 & 2 are running too lean...any ideas on how or what i should do before i do anything that could make it worse? i'd appreciate it

how many miles on the car? could need new o2 sensors

It could be oil shedding off of your K&N air filter. There is a BIG debate, which I won't get in to - I am neutral, but have been in your situation. GM says that oil can shed off of the filter and foul the MAF sensor. K&N says that our MAF sensors are defective and leak silicone from the electonics on to the elements.

Regardless, a fouled MAF can cause the engine to go lean. This caused my computer to throw lean codes. I was able to clean my MAF (using MAF cleaner) which fixed the codes and my performance issues.

Regardless of what you do, you will need a tool to clear the codes off of your PCM before you get re-tested.
