Default Rattle in the back of my car. Been trying to pinpoint it for months now.

It's in the back right area of my car and through countless searches on this site I have yet to really find out what it is. Let me try to explain it a little and see if anyone can please help me.

When I am slowing down or driving under 25mph or so you can hear this "da-da-da-da" rattle. It has a dull sound, it sounds like something relatively large I guess.

Also when I turn back and forth the rattle comes back louder than just driving.

Exhaust, spare and jack, speakers, differential, rear end. These are all things I've read about through searching about a rattle. It's not my spare or jack. I heard about "can of marbles" with the differential but I don't know if that is the case. I can only really hear this noise in neutral because of my exhaust but even in gear I am pretty sure it's there.

I installed new brakes and rotors recently. I am not sure if it could be a rotor rattling but the sound seems close to what it could be.

I know this is all general but if anyone could possibly point me in a certain direction that would be great. If I know the noise is harmless I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Thanks.

take your spare/jack out make sure you dont have anything in the t-top area or spare area.. make sure your rims are on all the way (although u shoulda already lost it by this time)..

grab stuff like your lca's, sway bar, panhard rod make sure the bushings are good and nothing moves...

Grab your car by the rear fender and rock the car left and right hard. If you hear it then, have a buddy do it for you and look under there, phr ends could be the culprit. Also take a look at your other connection points like lca's, shock ends, sway bar end links. They tend to rust and break.

What other mods have you done?

Check where your rear bumper cover attaches to the rear quart panels. Mine was loose there and rattling....it drove me nuts because I thought it was a muffler hanger or a bushing or something.

I replaced the plastic push in clips with bolts and that solved my rattle.

I am having the same problem almost exactly. There were two things that I remember doing to the car before it started. I readjusted my PHB since I have Eibach's and I installed UMI LCA relocation brackets (bolt ins). Ive been under the car 10+ times making sure EVERYTHING is bolted down tight. It seems like the noise happens at like 25-35 mph in neutral. It started out only happening when I was veering left. Now it consistently sounds like something big is rattleing around over bumps and anything that puts stess on the suspension. Any other ideas of what is goin on??

Just pick the rear end of the car off the ground and drop it, you should hear it then.

Do you guys think that bolt in LCA relocation brackets could create these symptoms? The reason I ask is because I have gotten new LCA's and black poly bushings since this problem started.

I have the same exact problem, Mine however sounds more like in the car and it drives me nuts. It happens on all streets and its by where the passenger seat belt meets the headliner. Do you have t-tops? Could it be top rattle?

Mine sounds more like it's comin from the rear end. It almost feels like an axle is shakin around in there. I wonder if it is in fact something in the rear end.

I agree with this guy. I have the same problem and have had it since my car was stock. I've swapped out the PB and the LCAs, installed poly bushings and SFCs, and lubed everything. It's still there. I've been asking about this for three years and have never really figured it out completely. I've even installed a girdle and stud kit. Still nothing. Plus, I've heard on more than a couple ocassions that it's probably the diff.

I think I figured mine out as just the rear hatch hydraulics creating a wear spot. Its really weird to see metal wear like that. Is this a common problem anyone?
