Default So I dynod tonight (1st) and only made 8 HP more open cutout

I have the cutout in the 4" section before the stock catback. I made 345 HP/ 352 TQ closed and 353 HP/ 359 TQ open. This was on a Mustang Dyno so I didn't get the gain some people see (was told 20/20). Does this mean my setup is doing pretty good as-is? Now I need to see what I can get at the track with it.

Was there a retune immediately after the switch? If not thats probably why you're gains are so low with the cutout open.

No retune. We set it up for the street since that is mainly what I do. So what kind of times would this equal? Dynojet is supposedly more so how much is the correction and crank HP number?

No way you will see 20hp gain from a cutout, with my set up I was very happy with 11 hp gain w/ cutout opened.

What did you dyno? I see you are below mid 12's and don't see headers listed.

Your gains are on par for the mods you have. No way you would see 20/20 with your current mods.

What exactly needs to be retuned for an open cutout?

Here's the dyno of a stock LQ4 stock exhaust vs. cutout. Not really relevant to the OP's specific situation, but shows that 16rwhp is probably best case scenario.

It's almost impossible to guess, since there are way too many variables, IMHO...

Perfect example:
My 3755# A4 car made 344rwhp/314rwtq on a Mustang Dyno, yet runs 11's with ease (best of 11.67@115, 11.80's@113 in the heat). I have 275/50 drag radials, but ZERO suspension work done, aside from a Spohn adj. panhard bar, which does nothing for traction, and a set of older non-adjustable SLP boxed stock lower control arms, which also do nothing for traction.

I did just install a cutout (and 410's to replace the 342's), just to see what, if any, changes it makes at the strip.
Since open exhaust means leaner a/f ratio at WOT, I intend to richen up wot using my HPTuners.

I dynoed on a dynojet a couple of years ago with current mods minus the ported TB, I dynoed 328hp/341tq cutout closed and 339.5hp/353tq cutout opened. No Headers just Bassani ORY w/ cutout. Mid 12's was w/ a 1.89 60', before clutch started slipping. Clutch works fine on the street but before I head back to the track will need to upgrade to a LS7 clutch and Flywheel.

Wish I knew how much to add for the Dynojet conversion. I think Fran said 6% so that would mean 375 HP in my case but someone with more knowledge may know. My helmet is on the way and I have plans for next Wed to race since temps will be high 30's. Should run damn good then!
