Question opening manifold from 78 to 90mm???

i have a weiand/lpe manifold its ported by TEA, is it a problem of any kind if i were to have the t/b bore opened to 90mm?

can this be done? if not what size 85 mm?

From 78mm to 90mm?? Wow, thats a serious bore job!! I would say if you could do it without weakening the neck material to a dangerous point, then go for it. We are talking about porting the manifold, not the tb correct?

yes the manifold, i put my 90 up to it and it seems like it would work, trace the inside with a marker and it has a little less than 1/4" on one side no less than 1/8 on the other, could definitely get it to with in a couple "mm" of 90. . . . im just curious if anyone has done this aswell??????

would'nt you have to grind away where the seal is in the opening of the intake?, meaning you would no longer have the seal there?

Keep in mind that the 90mm TB's use a different bolt pattern.

Wait a minute, I thought the 90mm TB's were 4 bolt patterns, 78-85mm are three bolt.
Is there a 90mm with only 3 bolts?

I just started it today and I don't think it will need any welding, it seems to be going along pretty good. I didn't get any before pics but ill get some during and after. the neck seems to have enough material to retain its strength, there is extra material around the t/b port which makes the opening smaller , so I think it should be fine. . . if not im buying a new intake

if you try it without adding material to the opening well there just isn't enough material there. also what are you gooing to do about the bolt pattern. the two bottom holes are not is the right location to mate to a 90 or 92mm throttlebody.

the bottom holes wil be filled in then ill tap new holes, but the aren't off by much at all . . . the pass side of the intake has more material then the driver I don't remember exactly but I think .3 and .2 on each side , if the 90 won't work ill just go with an 85 t/b
