Coolant leaking while TB off???
I've sent my TB cross country to be CNC ported. While it's away, I've got the car on stands to do the headers & poly mounts. The whole time I'm crawling around, there is a steady slow, drip....drip....drip of coolant that wasn't there before.
When I removed the coolant lines from the TB, of course, I got a gush of coolant out. I thought that this was maybe the left over drips. But no, it's still coming. It's NOT from the tb hoses. It's somewhere on the front driver's side behind the pulleys, but I can't see.
If anyone had this or has any ideas, thanks. Just seems a funny timing coincidence that I just opened the coolant lines at the TB, and got that initial gusher.
Maybe my car doesn't like being so high up off the ground...lol

gm uses uses coolant to heat up the TB so that in the winter in northern sates the throttle plate doesnt stick. It heats up the oncoming air so do a throttle body bypass while you get it ported. just buy a 3/18 copper pipe (i think that is the correct size) and connect the hoses and zip tie them on both ends. Its held for me almost a year and it should for you aswell.
If you live up north though i would recomend you keep it as is. I live in texas so i get to bypass it.

Thanks guys for the tips. Maybe I am just being "paranoid". But, like I said, the TB hoses are pointed up, dry and NOT the source of the leak...(coolant slow, steady dripping 3 days after the TB disconnect.)

You would be amazed what fluids will puddle down in your K-member (frame the engine sits on). I've seen 2+ qts of power steering fluid lurking in one before from a customers car that had a leaking PS hose. Even after replacing the hose the car still leaked PS fluid for a month
