started porting my FAST intake
picked up a new FAST 78 on ebay for CHEAP so I pulled it apart today to start porting it a little. This is my first FAST so anything you want to point out have at it.
There's a thick plastic ridge that sticks out on into the exit runners. I'm not sure if FAST put that there to help out cars with stock heads maybe or what?
Here's a before pic:
Here's a pic after I roughly removed the ridge sticking out and blended it a little with the rest of the runner:
On the entry side there's a rather large hump in every runner.
I'm not sure if it's there to serve a purpose but I couldn't see it doing much besides disrupting airflow so I removed them.
That's as far as I've got so far and I'm about 3 hours into it. I'm going to do some more work to the entry runners tomorrow. Hopefully in a few days I'll have time to pull my LS6 intake off and bolt on the lower shell and port match it to my ported heads. I'll post up more pics as I get further along.
After all the major cleanup is done and everything is port matched I'll go back and smooth everything with some fine grit so it's nice and smooth again.
If anyone experienced with these has any other tips please let me know. I'd like to get it right the first time and not pull it back off later.

Looks nice. You can smooth out the sharp edge right under the injector hole (be careful) and work on the short turn of the runner. I used epoxy to raise the bottom of the ports to match the heads. You can also open up the area right inside the TB entry area. Take your time and don't rush it. It took me countless hours to get it right, including measuring each runner for consistency. I also tested mine on a Superflow 600 bench bolted to the same head I use on the car.
