Default How are your Stainless headers holding up?

Just curious, i am going to be ordering a set sometime this winter, and i have never had stainless headers before. Right now i have the coated ones and they look just like the day i put them on. Do the stainless ones look as goood after a few years?? Obviously they wont rust, but do they discolor at all?? Let me know your experience.

I had my SS headers coated. Other than loosing a bit of the luster of polished SS, they are still silver satin in color and look great.

The stainless headers do discolor but it won't look as nasty as a set of rusty headers.

Yeah. I don't have headers yet, but I wouldn't be pissed if they turned gold in color. As long as they don't rust

Slight color change to a bronze-ish, once you give'em hell for a few days. Had mine on for a few weeks before the photo was taken. The white stuff in on the bottom of the tranni was my radiator fluid that leaked after I did the free throttle body mod. There is a difference between fuel hose and radiator hose.

i can deal with the golden color, just didnt want them to look like hell for the $$ i am going to be forking over. Now the question, ARH, or Kooks?? I like ARH's merge much better, i just wish somebody had a ball and socket y-pipe attachment instead of slip fit joints. I absolutely hate exhaust leaks.

KOOKS redesigned their collector and it is now on par with ARH. If you are lowered I think the ARH Y will give a bit more clearance. You can't go wrong either way.

You can expect them to turn gold right after the intial fireup and cool down, but I've had my on for 2 years now and it's still the same color now as it was the day it fired.

would you rather they rust through?

mine have been on for almost two years now and have changed colors from silver to gold to bronze and now have some purple areas, but still no rust, and perform as well as they did the day i put them on
