Thumbs up Installed Summit underdrive pulley!

I installed the UDP this weekend and it was a fight. First the removal tool I rented snapped a hook off. Reconfigured it to use the other hooks and broke the stock pulley-twice. The Summit piece failed to slide in after two boiling water stunts. I didnt have an install tool so I spent the best chunk of Saturday looking for a hardware store that carries the m16 x 2.0 x xxxmm threaded rod. I found this place called A.M.S. They had it all. Any of you locals want to know where it is just p.m me. I bought three feet of rod, three nuts, 6 small washers, and 20 2''o.d x 3/4''i.d washers. I used a pipe wrench to torque the nut down on install. I didnt have a 15/16 wrench. You should have seen the breaker bar i used to break the original torque and torque the new bolt down with. I bet the SOB was three feet long! After installing the pulley i finished up using Gatorback belts and now my sqeeks are gone! The only charging issues i have are sitting at idle and using the heater. the gauge barely dips into the red. i'll get that over drive pulley for the alt later. Im very happy with the performance. Top end charge has a little more umph now.

Did you have to get a smaller a/c belt too?

bought it off a guy on here and he gave me the two belts, but haven't held them side by side with the factory length belts. being that the whole pulley is smaller i would assume yes the ac belt is smaller also.

Yeah that's what I figured. I don't know why I didn't think of the a/c belt when I bought the pulley. Oh well that'll come later I guess.

yup, if the motors in the car you just make sure there's no spark to the engine and crank it just barely with he key. Make sure your strong arm is wedged against the frame or something that will not break. If a breaker bar or an impact doesn't work, that should do it.
