Ls6..
Will i need a ls6 valley cover in order to install an ls6 intake on my 2000 TA? I know ill have to shave the ribs off the bottom of the intake..would it be a good idea to get new seals/gaskets or anything?? thanks

The seals are silicone with a metal core. Only usable once. Meaning once theyre torqued they're sealing capacity is greatly reduced once its on bolted.
Its in my book im looking for the quote now.
edit: heres the quote:
"this brings up a good point: dont reuse any Gen III V8 gaskets because they are all of the compression-carrier design. This means the aluminum surface of the gasket take the torquing load to control how compression the embedded silicon surfaces experience."
And with the issue of yuor LS6 intake and LS1 vent tube, also out of the same book.
"Some road racers have been using the Pre-LS6 steam tubes underneath the LS6 intake to improve cooling in cylinder number 7(they previously had detonation in that hole). While steam tubes werent used on factory LS6s, they fit under the intake by slightly grinding off some of the stiffening ribs on the bottom side of the intake, Some racers just install the steam tube and during rebuilds find small indentations where the ribs came in contact with it."
Theres the info. You make the decisions

I ended up getting new seals for the LS6 intake I picked up but I don't think it's common to need replacing. The ones on the used manifold I got looked a little flat. Stock seals are spendy (our dealer cost was $50 for the set of 8) but it's better than having to do it twice I guess.

I posted everything above. If you used the LS6 steam pipes you would just block off the back 2 and only use the front 2. But if you used the LS1 setup which IMO is better, either shave the ribs or bolt it on and forget it.

Def just shave the ribs - i got mine completely smooth so i didnt need to crush the steam pipes. Lot mor grinding than u think! And be careful! Good luck!
P.S. Pre-purchase an oil sending unit.
