Default Short belt mod

I did a search for the short belt mod and could not find the part # or size for the right belt. This mod is just bypassing the power steering, correct? I'm going back to the dyno soon and want to do a test with both belts.

Thanks

I don't think you can bypass the PS without it messing with the Water Pump, unless you have an electric one..

5060525 is the part number for the Dayco brand. its a 52.5" belt. i got mine at Advance Auto. the 'shortbelt' just bypasses the powersteering. remove idler and powersteering junk for the shortbelt.

no, u do not have to mess with the stock waterpump to bypass the powersteering

Why would you want to bypass power steering? Does't really sound worth it to me....

In case anyone wants to do this with an under drive pully looks like you need this one:

Good to know... I have the power bond too. I was looking at my serpentine belt setup and didnt get how you route the belt while still spinning the water pump. Maybe im just a dork... lol

It's worth a try when going to the track! I'll put the old belt on before I go home. I would like to see my dyno/track gains with this. (A/C belt, and PS pulley delete)

seem to me if you had a idler mount somewhere around that open bolt boss (top of the alternator bracket).. it would be better at keeping the belt in contact with the water pump.

Will you be going to the track/dyno soon? I think we all would like to hear the results.

I'd like to go to the track soon, but I don't have drag radials. I'm wanting to re-dyno my car since I installed a new RPM tranny with a tighter converter.

If you need to re-dyno anyways, why dont you take both belts with you and let us know the results?

I'll take your advice on that one. It seems you've tried to max out your cam only setup.

I was thinking the same thing as well, that is just a little too close for comfort.
