Default new timing chain

i have a 98 camaro with full intake and open exhuast. I have herd from a few people that if i got an adjustible timing chain and retarded the timing that i would get a noticable gain in hp and a lope. I didnt know if this was true or not just wanted to see what u guys think.

retarting the timing on the stock cam may not be a great idea either, its already a small cam making its peak near 5500 rpm..if you retard it, it will peak even lower, giving into a weak upper end.

I think you have it backwards - advancing the cam brings the power peak lower, retarding it pushes it to upper RPM.

If the OP is going to take everything apart might as well get that stock cam out of there.
