Default Significance of blue dot on front of block...

I have a gen IV 4.8 (so I was told) but when I looked at it more closely on the block where it has the

4.8/
5.3

the 5.3 has a blue dot next to it. A buddy told me that was the mark to indicate it was a 5.3 (or could be) any truth to this?

Default

the paint mark next to the number designates the displacement
if its next to the 5.3, then your motor is a5.3 not a 4.8
