I had a crazy *** 222 amp alternator built for me back in my Car Audio days... some place in Oceanside, CA... wish i could remember the name of it... the guy said it was the most powerful one he ever built

think it was called Mr. Alternator.... but I could be wrong... that sounds kinda like a popular chain. I don't think this guys shop was a chain...

Don't bother with the little 160 amp from Summit. Check out http://www.alterstart.biz/ . Give them a call and tell them what you want. High quality HO alternators. I installed one of their 200 amps a couple of years ago https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ferrerid=13535 . Also, do a search for the Big 3 to upgrade your battery and alternator wiring while your at it. This alternator is huge sitting next to the puny stock alternator.

I have the same alternator as HavATampa...the monstrosity on the left in his picture. No complaints, and it has seen 6700+ RPMs with a 7.5" diameter crank pulley (stock size - not underdriven) MANY times.

Should be fine as long as it's ran properly and secured and protected. Use 4 gauge as a minimum, it's bigger than stock. Here's an awesome link showing the alternator and Big 3 install steps with pics by cw T/A. He is using 4 gauge in some paces and 1/0 in other places.
