Default Exhaust Manifold Question

I have 69 Firebird with the TCI tubular subframe installed. Just today, I installed an 04 GTO motor with the auto tranny. The GTO exhaust manifold on the driver's side hits the frame. The manifold on the passenger side is too close (like 1/8") for comfort.

I called TCI and was told that either truck manifolds (LS motors) or F Body manifolds will clear the frame. I have located several pair. They seem plentiful as people are removing them in favor of headers. I like headers as well, but I have spent enough lately and plan to stick with manifolds.

So, here are my questions..

1) Are all F Body manifolds the same as far as flow...from 98 to 02? One post I found indicated the 01 and 02 manifolds were superior.

2) How are truck manifolds different?

3) I will need to install O2 sensors. Do any of these manifolds have the bungs for the O2 sensors in them?

Thanks in advance....

If you prefer to call me.. (309) 360-6385 Mike in Illinois

2. I think truck manifolds are designed more for torque in mind and are longer.
1. The 01 and 02 manifolds are better flowing than 98-00. for reasons unknown to me.

01-02 f body, drivers side has O2 bung in the manifold, pass side has it in the pipe.
I just threw away two sets.
I had them adapted right off the manifolds to 3" pipe to a 3" ORY.
Put headers on and there was a noticeable difference in low end torque (loss).

Default Cast Exhaust Manifolds..

Thank you for your input.

I know this belongs in the wanted section...but does anyone have a set of 01 or 02 cast exhaust manifolds (F Body) for sale?

Give me a call if that is easier..

Here you go: https://ls1tech.com/forums/lsx-parts...aro-parts.html Just do a search under classified (parts for sale) type in 01 or 02 stock manifolds.
