Default Testing o2 sensors off car?

Im getting ready to finish my build up...again, and my o2 sensors are a bit old and have been sitting around for a bit. Im a cheap bastard though, and if I can keep them I would like to. I was just wondering if there is a way to test them off the car. Anyone done this before?

It would be alot easier to put them on the car to test them than trying to devise a way to accurately test them off the car.

You monitor them with the engine running with a scantool or diagnostic software.

cannot test them off the car....thats how they work. they sniff the atm inside the exhaust, then take a sample from the ambient air, the diff in oxygen creates a voltage wave form. so if you "test" them in the air....what do you think will happen?

You can test them off the car. You'd need a torch and a multimeter. It's not a perfect test, but you could watch the voltage differential between the two signal wires to ensure they are switching/varying while under the flame. The heat will get them to full temp quickly, and the varying amount of fresh air to burnt propane will actually show a voltage differential close enough to the real thing that you'd get a good idea on their functionality.

You CAN test virtually any sensor off the car if you know what you're looking for from the output from the sensor.
