Default Any issue with an 85mm MAF on an otherwise stock car?

I'm slowly building up to an all-motor street build, so no boost / no bottle. (have emissions, so I have to keep cats)

I'm starting at the front basically, eventually get a good cat-back and long tubes, but for now I'm at the intake stage. I'd like to go ahead and get the FTRA with the 85mm FT lid, but I want to make sure I'm not going to throw a code / have any problems with going to the larger MAF at this point, since the lid requires it. Anyone know of any issues?

you can run the 85mm lid with a rubber pvc adapter from the hardware store. Just wont flow like it would with an 85mm MAF.

I've heard the slp 85mm mafs can throw off your tune alot. I think the GM z06 85mm mafs are recommended, but you should get a tune after either way.

If you just buy a regular GM 85mm MAF, you will need to return the MAF table in your ECU for the car to run properly.

The SLP version has a resistor soldered on to the MAF to allow it to work with a car without any tuning. It's a crude way to do it but it works. Your best results will still be with a custom tune.

Putting a larger MAF on will throw off your tune, regardless of who supplies it. If you opt for a larger MAf, or modify your stock one, get it tuned!

Dang it, you beat me to it FTP.

unfortunately, I'm probably 1000 miles from the closest tuner (freaking Colorado...), so I'll go with one of the normal lids then and skip the MAF. I'm not driving to Texas this early on in the process for a tune.

Thanks all!

You can still do the FT 85mm lid, just order the rubber adapter we sell for 8.00 to use with the stock MAF. Then you can upgrade later on to an 85mm MAF and not have to buy a new lid

Didn't see it on the site - do you know the part number off hand?

When you order the 85mm lid off our site, you will see a drop down in the options for the lid and one of them is the adapter for the stock MAF.

Thanks!

I have the 85mm lid and it's a nice. I picked up a 85mm maf off ebay for like $30 and just adjusted my tune.
