Default Hypertech programmers worth it?

Okay i have done a search and not found a clear discussion on this, Are the hypertech programmers worth buying? Yoou can get a used 1 on ebay for 100-200$ but is it worth the money? Thanks

NO

the tunes on them are worthless...some lose power

bout the only thing good with them is easy change of speedo/fans/shift points.


you can get a mail order tune that much better for not much more.

yes
but it depends upon what your looking for. if your good with computer programs or know somebody that is go with that. handhelds have come a long way since there inception. do some research first.

if your set on getting a hand held, I would recommend the Diablosport Predator programmer.

I think they are good as a first mod. Especially with an A4 shift points and removing top speed limiter, rear ratios, tires etc. Once real boltons go on, then a dyno tune is best.

screw hand helds i had a hyperjunk paid 400 for it...didnt have it even a year and it quit had to have it replaced..they sent me a new one it quit the 2nd time i used it....

do yourself a favor and spend 500 on hp tuners...best mod ive bought yet...

HP tuners, or dyno. There is nothing else...period.

My hp tune cost me $300 for lifetime tunes.

**** a hypertech....they are horrible for A4's i bought my TA with a hypertech on it and 4 days later my sunshell blew out. The guy had everythign cranked up on it tranny wise and it toasted my weak *** A4

They're fine for simple things like adjusting for a gear ratio change. I bought one for that before I got into the tuning scene. I'd let it go for cheap - PM if you're interested. It's for a 2000.
