Default Steering Pump Groan?

Hey guys, I just picked up a 2000 WS6 yesterday. I noticed that every now and then, the power steering pump will make a groaning noise. The fluid level is fine.

Is this a sign that the pump is going bad, or could it be more serious like the rack & pinion is going bad?

Thanks for any help/suggestions!!!

My 2000 WS.6 does it as well and so does my brother's 2001 T/A. Seems normal to me. I've never driven any other f-bodies before.

mine doesn't make any noise.... id start by flushing the system and refilling it with new fluid.
