Default Best way to fix an exhaust leak? Header @ Y

I've got a pretty bad leak at my driverside LT header where it meets my Y-pipe. They are pacesetter headers with what looks like a slip fit connection. It threw my tune off last year and I've been getting horrible gas mileage ever since, running waayy too rich.

I'm bumfuzzled by all the different products out there claiming to fix leaks. In your experience, what's the best way to fix it? Band clamps? Sealants? If something worked well for you, can you post a link?

I had a similar issue a while back, I bought one of those exhaust repair kits (insulation/glue), installed it and used a band clamp on top. This worked fine, but the best way would be to adjust the y pipe he best you can and go from there.

I have been fighting it as well, that slip fit design is doomed to leak. I have tried different y-pipes, band clamps etc. I am currently using the QTP y, which does fit better than the TSP y (QTP headers). The pipe does not leak as much, but I still have a small leak at the collectors. I am tempted to cut them and weld on tri flanges at the collects and y.

Think I'll try a band clamp, I've heard if you tighten them on with an impact it seals it pretty good. if that doesn't work I might take it to an exhaust shop and have them weld on flanges, I don't like the idea of having to cut my pipe if I need to remove it for some reason.

got up under there and turned out it already had bands on it, so I hit it with an impact and it wasn't any better. just took it to an exhaust shop, they welded it up, fixed a rattle, and tucked my tailpipes up a little bit ( I always thought they hung too low)

I have same setup with same problem. I have RTV around the area that leaked under the band clamp, and then just tightened the clamp down and now leak. But give it time to harden before start up.
