Default AIR removal on 2000. sick of searching. no write-ups explain this.

trust me i searched. found lots of write-ups for 98's, and a great one for 2000+'s but the pictures don't work so it's useless.

stole that picture from another thread, but anyway...

how do you get the diverter on the left of the picture off? i can't see what it's bolted to. last bolt on the coil pack maybe?

what do i plug? and how do i remove those wires?

I would like to know as well. Im finally going to do it. My Question is how to get the distribution thing that sits on top of the manifold off.

The valve sits on a bracket on the last coil retainer stud. Remove the pump, hoses, plug the vacuum line and block the exhaust ports with plates. Then get the AIR removed from your PCM file.

Just for curiosity, why are you removing it?

thanks, can you circle what i plug exactly?

i just did lt's so i removed the connections to the manifolds already and have to get codes deleted so i might as well just get rid of the extra weight and clutter since it's halfway off already.

you plug the vacuum line that connects to the T-fitting on the back of the manifold. Looking at the picture, it would be the line on the bottom of the T-fitting.

i think i know what you're talking about but i'm still kinda confused. i plug the line that isn't pictured but would be connected to the very very back of the intake mani?

and how do those small lines there disconnect exactly?

and i'm from bergen county too DaddySS

oh no, the line you plug is the one that is pictured coming out of the bottom of the t-fitting on the back of the manifold. the left connection goes to your map sensor, the bottom connection is the vacuum line that you have to plug, and and connection on the right that isn't in the picture has to do with your air conditioning system i believe. if i can put that picture in photobucket, i'll circle it for you, but i forgot how haha

the red line is the one that has to be plugged. instead of disconnecting it from the back of the manifold(if it's on the car, it will be very hard to get it from back there) just disconnect it where i put the green circle and plug it there. if you ever have the manifold off, you can completely remove it.

The diverter/canister sits on a bracket and it's a PITA to get it off (was for me at least). You have to push in a tab with a screwdriver to get it up off its stand. The large hoses pull off that canister, but they were pretty tight. Plug that small vacuum line with a #4-40 screw about 1/2" long and covered in RTV. It threads into that line snugly and makes a tight, clean seal.

the air system is designed to pump fresh air into the exhaust to prolong the life of cats. i'm running no cats, so it's of no use. just a bunch of weight and clutter so i removed it.

some people also have exhaust backfires and pops caused by the air system.

you dont need to plug it with a special screw. if you try, it will fit nicely onto the top of one of the coil pack bolts. doing it this way also keeps it attached so you dont have to zip tie it somewhere to keep it from moving around like you would if you just plugged it with a screw.

i think he is referring to the "box" that the hose plugs into where you have the green circle. i don't really know the answer because i don't know what it does. it appears you can eliminate it and the whole hose if you take off the manifold and just plug it in the back of the manifold.

actually this is what i was talking about.

the part that mounts to the bracket that makes it a pain in the *** to get the last bolt out of the coil bracket mount on the drivers side
