No, the second 5 in TR-55 detones that it has a .055 gap. The first 5 means that it's the stock heat range. For example, a TR-5 is the stock heat range just like a TR-55 but it has a .039 gap instead...just like a TR-6 has a .039 gap but a TR-6 is one range cooler. If there were such thing as a TR-65, it would be cooler than stock with a .055 gap.
Mikey, I believe an Autolite 103 is said to be a little cooler than a TR-6. I might believe this based on how they tend to idle a little rougher.

Colonel, We have two different NGK plugs that are colder than the TR6...

Look in the FI section, I posted the part number for NGK TR8's. I know 4-5 folks who are running them. They come pre-gapped at .022. I have them in my car right now they are about the same price as TR6's.
