Would I benefit from a larger throttle body?
I have a 422 and am running a stock unported throttle body, with stock ported maf. How much, if any, hp am I losing. Just wondering if I should get a ported one or an 80-90mm tb. Thanks

If you're going to run the LS6 intake I'd get a well done ported stocker. No need to go bigger since the LS6 inlet is no larger.
You are giving up some descent power with that stock unported TB.

I have the holley intake. I could open up the inlet on it, so if I did that, should I get a larger one? Thanks.

Yeah if you can port your intake, than by all means go with a bigger TB. But if it's an LS1/LS6 intake, just port the stocker.

sorry to bring this thread back from the dead and all...
but where can i find some good instruction on how to port the MAF and / or Throttle body? How for out should I port? What areas do I need to be particularly careful around and whats the best tool to use.
I have a die grinder with a carbide tip if that works haha..

There is a "how to" somewhere that covers it, do a search. Basically it boils down to this:
1) fill the void for the IAC with JB Weld using a straw to maintain the function.
2) Smooth and polish the air horn up to but not including the area where the butterfly seals.
3) Smooth and polish the butterfly itself.
You can take the ends off the butterfly screws, grind the screw heads down some, and cut reliefs in the shaft between the screw areas.
I would recomending not messing with the MAF.

Best way to determine if you need a bigger throttle body, mass air body or air filter/lid is with a vacuum gauge. Install a vacuum gauge in the plenum. If you can read even a small amount on the gauge at full throttle, maximum rpm, then you have a restriction upstream of the plenum. Either or all could be the restriction but you will know if you have work to do.
