Default Cam guys: every regret putting cats on?

I've got a decent cam and dumped true duals. I've put up with the gas smell inside my car for a year and i think it's time for a change. I love the lope and sound but absolutely hate the gassy smell.

Anybody regret putting cats back on their car?

I'm putting cats on my SS to help some with the smell. If I wanted to smell like fuel after driving, I'd get in my chevelle.

Why don't you run the pipes out the rear then you wont smell them

My pipes come out the rear and I am tired of the smell also. I was wondering how just 1 cat in the I pipe would do. 1 it would be a simple install and B I would not have to worry about emmisions and not having any cats.

1 cat wouldn't flow enough and would result in a sizeable power loss

I put a catted Y pipe in place of my old ORY and it still smells like fuel. I think it helped some, but I still can not let the car run inside the garage very long. I have non-AIR headers, and was actually searching tonight to see if someone went back to an emission header with the AIR system to see if it helped with the smell. I'll keep searching, but cats did not help me much.

These are muscle cars. We want power from the cams , LT and ORYs we have some things to trade. Things like noise, smells and worse wear and tear then ever. Mine smells like antifreeze and gas. Doesn't bother me. ITS A MUSCLE CAR. 4 cylinder cars are nice, quiet, and smell friendly. Later

Wont work. Thats to far from the motor so it cant get hot enough to be efficient.

^^ Yea I have cutouts where my cats should go I did not want to take them out. I dont know what I am going to do. How much loss is two high flow cats really going to take from you 2-5 hp?

I've been catless since 2005 and don't have any issues smelling fuel/fumes etc. Never had any complaints from my passengers either.

I was going to ask if this was an fbody problem but I see Mike has an FRC vette. Hmm, not sure why I don't have any issues. Maybe its the LG Pro Longtubes ?? They are a really good set of headers, no leaks ...

I never had any problems with the smell when i had an ORY but i do now since i switched to duals. Ill prolly put some high flow cats on. No reason that myself or my interior should have to smell like straight gas.

I'm running a catted-y, and am happy with it. The smell is minimal, and would be better if my tune wasn't sh*t... As far as the sound goes, I've never heard my cam without cats, but I'd imagine it would lope alot harder if I didn't have em.. Still sounds good either way though

The other thing I gain - having a y pipe with cats greatly reduces rasp. Not that it matters to you true duel guys

I went about 6 months catless and simply got sick of the fumes. I've got ceramic cats (which are inferior to magnaflow center spun metallics) and I lost no SOTP feeling. The only thing I miss about not having cats is the muscle car sound.

What brand headers is everyone using ? Maybe try a different set of headers. Too bad LG Motorsports didn't get those Fbody pro longtubes finalized and put into production.

Wouldnt a good tune have more to do with the smells than having cats?
