Default Oil Pan Gasket

So I pulled the pan tonight, and was looking at the gasket. It is some aluminum thing that seems to be riveted onto the rails. Do I replace this? Or is it reusable? I don't know whats up with it

The stock pan gasket is riveted to the pan at the factory for ease of assembly. To change the gasket, you have to drill the rivets out. You do not have to rivet the new gasket to the pan.

You can reuse it if it's not damaged.
You'll need to put about a 1" bead of RTV at the 4 corners where the front and back covers meet the block.

Alright thanks guys. I don't need to put a strip of RTV around the whole thing?

The rubber O ring on the aluminum gasket seals it. I'm guessing they initially had leakage problems where the junction of the front/rear cover attach to the block and oil pan. So they reccomend the RTV only in that area.
