Default Edelbrock 90mm TB

I thought I would post this, since there doesn't seem to be much info out there on this piece. Or at least I couldn't find any.

I wanted this because it has a cast stock look to it and it's much cheaper than any other 90mm TB.

It looks to be a quality piece. You can get it with or without TPS/IAC. You can get it powdercoated black as well for a little more. I chose the natural finish without TPS/IAC and it was $268.64 shipped.

It has a cool little feature that allows you to allow more idle air without drilling a hole in the blade or messing with the throttle stop. It's a bleed screw on the very top on the TB. (pic below)

The only problem I've found so far is that it doesn't have a port for the PCV hose to connect. It seems they would at least make a hole and plug it, as most people want to keep the PCV as it is. I plan on going to a evac setup when I get some headers so, it's only a slight nuisance for me right now to have to rig something.

The opening in the front seems a little bigger than other 90s I've seen, but it may just be an illusion as I don't have one to compare it to. It's definitely gonna be a stretch to the the 4" ID coupler over top of it.

Here are some pics.

I'll post more when I get it on and some comparison pics of some stock ones.

They're not a sponsor so I can't say. PM me if you can't figure it out.

That'll work, it's only a few dollars more than what I paid and they're a sponsor.

Got it installed. I had to rethink the PCV system, it's not gonna function quite the same, but it's just temporary. You could just make a port for it in the bellows or the lid if nothing else. Also, had some issues with the cruise control cable, for one it needs to be adjusted as the FAST pushes the TB out a little bit and the connector doesn't fit so well over the stud on the Edelbrock throttle cam. The hole either needs to be enlarged or the stud trimmed a little or both. And I'm gonna need a bigger hose clamp.

No major issues though. It idles good, haven't messed with the IAC yet. It's very smooth, as well. My stocker would stick a little.

Here are some installed pics:

Looks very nice! Question, is that an LS6 intake manifold or a FAST?

Also, have you had it tuned or dynoed yet?

I'm budgeting for a similar upgrade, not sure if the manifold is worth more over stock or just the TB.

Thanks for the pics, great photography!

I got one to go with my vic jr manifold. I havnt got it yet they take a few weeks to get im guessing there on backorder or something like that. I got the black one to go with my black elbow. It was definatly cheaper than other alternatives.

Looks like quite a bulge where the coupler is fastened to the throttle body!

It's a FAST. I'm working on the tune now. I wish I could get some dyno numbers.

I had this ordered through Summit, but they kept moving back the shipping date, so I emailed another store and they had it in stock. The black one may be harder to come by.

It is. The blue couplers that I'm using were a little too big for the stock TB. I barely got it on this one. I'm probably gonna get a 4.5" coupler and a bigger lid. This is a pain to get on and off.

I too am running an "odd ball" 90mm TB that you do not see very often, if @ all... It's an MSD 90mm tb on my FAST...VERY nice piece, and expensive! Definately not the typical FAST,NW,PTM, 90mm TB's...

Nice piece you have there... and a NICE CAR!!

I wanted something that looked more stock, it just happened to be the cheap one. The MSD looks very similar to the UMI piece. I had considered the UMI and the Holley before I went this route.

It looks like it could use a little porting.

If I were to get a throttlebody like this do I need to get a tune or would it run decent with a stock tune.

Mi car is an 02 Z28 A4 that is nearly stock except a mufler and subframe connectors.

This throttle body won't fit your car. In order to run a 90mm throttle body, you need an intake manifold with a 90mm inlet.

Yeah, this won't work on a stock intake. I don't have many more mods than you and I'm not expecting much from the FAST90 and TB. We'll see.

Is the stock TB an 80mm? What kind of gains could I get with an aftermarket TB that would fit mi LS6 intake, and would that need to be tuned?

I'm sure it's been talked about before. Ported stocker is the way to go. For around $60 you'll get 5-8hp. No tune required.
