Default 1 3/4 vs 1 7/8 header question

So i'm looking to buy some lt headers. The 2 types i'm generally seeing are the 1 3/4 and the 1 7/8, what does this number mean?
Is it worth the extra $100 to get the 1 7/8 for a dd 01 t/a (does the sound change or anything)? My goal is a h/c bolt on dd.

1 3/4 and 1 7/8 are the pipe diameter. as far as which one to use is a big debate. me personally i would go with the 1 3/4 for a stock engine, unless you plan on going bigger in the near future. jut look for a qulity set no matter which way you go. good luck

Here we go again. This has been beat into the ground over and over. just buy the 1 3/4 unless you plan to go bigger CI. Thats what 90% of the people on here will say.

1 7/8 for bigger cubes, drag racing setups, nitrous, forced induction.

1 3/4 stock displacement, mild h/c, bolt on only.

JMHO

As mentioned go with a quality set. Kooks, and ARH are bad ***. Someone on hear just picked up some ARH longtubes and installed them in 20 degree weather, and as cold as it was he posted that they went right in, and fit perfectly.

lol!! this is going to be legendary!!

as for me i like the ARH and Texas Speed stuff. I am in a delima over which company to purchase from. the ARH are almost double in cost compared to the Texas Speed headers. I plan on going with a turbo in the future so I won't beable to use them after that so it is hard for me to spend the extra money for something that might only be on for a year. so if you are gonna keep them on for years to come i'd get a quality stainless set like the ARH's.

I agree bro. +1 !!!!!!!!! It all depends on what your current vs future plans are ?? Just add headers and be done, then go with the best. Going Turbo, then go cheap now so you aren't out much when you have to pull them for the turbo manifolds.
