My Meziere EWP just took a crap this morning !!!!!!!!!!
Started the car up this morning, drove 2 blocks ,& the belt was slipping like a pig, & the lights were dimming because of the slipping alternator as the voltage gauge was in the red zone ...
Opened the hood & water was shooting out the top between the free wheeling pulley & the Meziere housing... Ran fine last night, & it gave no warning this morning.... Pump has been on for 6-8 weeks, & worked a-ok , with no problems at all...

Definitely give Jay @ Meziere (or whomever you purchased it from if you prefer) a call. They have always stood behind their products and have had great customer service.

This isn't good news. I was going to wait till spring to get one just in case they have problems but oh well I just had to have it. Keep us posted.

That is my only hesitation about these things. At least on a normal water pump you usually have a warning when they start to go out by increase noise (as they don't normally completely fail all at once).
On an electric water pump, I'm just paranoid that it will just fail without warning and I won't be near home.

Hey, parts break.. even new parts.. I wouldnt worry about it unless we see a trend start. It would be like not buying a TV because you saw someone with a brand new one that broke

Re: My Meziere EWP just took a crap this morning !!!!!!!!!!
I'll check it out on Saturday & post back here...
EWP was still pumping when I checked it out Thursday morning before I slammed the garage door shut...
Coolant was pissing upwards, from between the housing & the fancy freewheeling pulley, & hitting the bottom of the TB, causing a 'waterfall' of coolant all over the front of the engine...
I didn't have any free time Thursday and none today, too start tearing things apart...
I will 1st remove the TB & lid assy... Then I will just power up the pump to try & pinpoint whats going on...
Maybe there's something I can fix, maybe loose pump to housing bolts causing a blownout gasket... I'll call Mezerie this afternoon & ask for some troubleshooting tips...
Funny thing is I drove the car home from work on Weds night, didn't even beat on it, parked it in the garage, all is fine... Thursday morning, fired it up, drove out of the garage, & within 2 blocks, the belt was slipping because of all the coolant spraying all over the front of the engine...
I do have the two holes drilled in the t-stat... Maybe the startup pressure is still too much for whatever gave up ???
This EWP is on my 1998 Z28 , I bought new on October 20, 1997...
6 years old this coming Monday...
1st raced it in November 1997, with 350 miles on it...
7th year of racing it down the 1/4...
Besides snow, this is the 1st thing that has stopped me from driving my car in 6 years...
Hay, I was at PRP last Sunday...
This weekend is booked, maybe next weekend...

Re: My Meziere EWP just took a crap this morning !!!!!!!!!!
I talked to Jay at Meziere & got some helpfull troubleshooting info...
Nice guy , & he returned my phone call within 3 minutes...
He stated that only 2 LS1 street pumps have had a problem with leakage, at the housing 'seam'... (factory problem)...
Bolts holding the housing together can cause a leak...
Allen head bolts secure the pump to the housing, if a bolt got loose because of a lack of sealant, or not tight enough, a leak can happen...
Incorrect torque, when installing the EWP assembly, can cause a leak...
I will share my findings, after tearing into, and hopefully fixing, my EWP tommorrow...

Re: My Meziere EWP just took a crap this morning !!!!!!!!!!
The good news....
All bolts were tight & loctite was used by Meziere...
All o-rings were also a-ok...
The bad news....
Looks like a blown seal in the electric motor...
I'm sending it back for repair...
The really ugly news...
Meziere doesn't have spare parts for the LS1 street pumps, as it's too new a product...
I tryed to order just a replacement electric motor , & they can't/don't have them...
I'll update when I get it back...
