Default LS6 Intake

How hard is it to change from the LS1 intake to the LS6 intake? Some people have said that you might have to drop down the motor so you can pull it out. Any idea's? Thanks for the help in advance!

Check ls1howto.com they have a nice write up on how to do it and you don't need to drop the motor. When you get ready to slide the intake forward be carefull for the oil pressure sending unit. I broke mine off and had to order one.

It's an easy swap, just take your time or you'll have to replace your oil pressure sending unit...

Pretty simple just make sure to lift the booster vacuum hose over the oil pressure sending unit and using 4 clothes pins to hold the back four bolts up helps as well if you are doing this by yourself.

rubber band works better than clothes pin Just put a rubberband going from one back bolt to the other. But yea, as has been stated already. No big deal to change the manifold. Should not take longer than an hour or so including the time to switch over the fuel rails and injectors, etc.. I don't know how people break that oil pressure sensor. I've never broken mine installing my manifold and I've had my manifold on/ off more times than I care to count. It should go without saying to be careful and pay attention to what you are doing

I just used a bit of tape to hold up the bolts. I bought a 8mm ratcheting wrench for the back intake manifold bolts - it was worth it's weight in gold!

pretty simple install. I could probably do it in less than an hour. Key is to take your time and watch that oil sending unit. Just put your hand back there and guide it over the unit.... you should be fine. good luck!

If you know that there is a sending unit back there then you probobly wont break it. I broke mine and didnt even realize it until I saw that I had no oil pressure on startup. When I broke mine, no one carried one or could even get one for a 98... except the dealer and a sideshow auto parts place. If a sensor breaks, get a dealer part Mine is a borg warner and the needle bounces now at part throttle and idle. Easy swap out!
