My homemade ram-air...

My homemade ram-air...
I will let the pics do most of the talking, but it is the SUX2BU style and I got all the supplies from Home Depot for around $35-40. You do have to do some cutting, but its no big deal My car is stock besides the lid, and the ram-air. I painted it black and it is hardly noticeable... and it will be really hard to notice once I install my black billet grille I need to go back over it and touch some places up, but you get the idea...
You do have to remove your front bumper brace.. there may be a way to do it without, but it will involve ALOT of cutting.. I took it out for the weight saving anyway. The parts are attached with self tapping sheetmetal screws and then duct taped over with black duct tape. Its pretty straight forward once you get in there. Remeber there IS cutting involved. As far as parts I don't know what they are called..
-(2) angled inlets (technically 3inch, but closer to 4in outlet)
-(1) section of 4in dryer tubing (cut it in half b/c it comes in like 8ft sections)
-(4) 4in ends ( the things you see bent coming flat under where the air cleaner goes)
-some self tapping screws (this is what you see in the bags)
-optional 4in clamps (the other bags you see. I didn't end up using these)
-Black duct tape
Sorry I don't know what they are called...All the parts I got were in the dryer hose/ducting aisle.. let me know If you need anything else..

Yea the pro 5.0 was first, followed by the lid & K&N, now this, and a ported throttle body is about to happen. I have an extra TB to use already I just have to get off my lazy butt and do it... It's fun starting over again though, the first mods are the best ones

I like it and I've done something similar to other (non F-body) cars before, efficient and cheap, just not sure I want to cut the radiator support. But I do admit I haven't looked hard at the radiator support and I don't know if cutting it can have a negative affect.
From experience with other cars I doubt you can tell a real seat of the pants feel because it's effect is more at the top end (I could be wrong though), but I guarantee the engine loves the fresh air shoved down it's throat, especially at speeds slightly over the speed limit.
I was wondering that too. I haven't taken a hard look there but I'm sure I remember something blocking those openings. If there wasn't I probably would have tried to make a homemade ram-air before.

I know the styrofoam is visible once you remove the grille. I was thinking, instead of removing all of the support and have the nose flopping around when your going 150, why not just trim the pieces in the way and work around the rest? Just a thought. Also, this wouldn't be for my car, but if I had a Camaro, there is no way I would take a hole saw to the radiator support. Cool setup, but I couldn't bring myself to do that.

The nose is solid and doesn't move.. there are MANY race cars without there front nose support and they don't "flap". I wouldn't do this to a really nice car, but this is just a toy, so I'm having fun with it. And believe me or not it looks great for normal viewing. The camera makes it look a lot worse. Either way it isn't anything more paint couldn't fix.
